Okay, so…I have a BIG issue with labeling. I’ve been labeled, and it. Pisses. Me. Off.

Below are some common ‘labels’ I’ve heard:

“Oh they wear Abercrombie, they’re nothing but a prep.”
“Oh she’s a cheerleader, so she’s a bitch/whore.”
“Oh, they wear black all the time, they must be Gothic/Emo. (<-Not saying it’s the same thing all you ‘Emos’ or ‘Goths’ out there that will eat me alive for putting them next to each other)”
“Oh they’re smart, so they must be nothing but a nerd.”
“Oh they’re fat, so they must have an issue with self-control.”
“Oh they’re skinny, so they must have an eating disorder.”
“Oh they never talks to anyone, so they must be stuck-up.”
“Oh they’re parents have money, so they must think they’re better than everyone else.”
“Oh they play football, so they’re a Jock.”
“Oh they hang out with all the Preppies/Goths/Emos/Nerds/Wannabes/Geeks/Jocks/etc. so they must be one too”

You get the point I’m sure.

If you don’t KNOW someone, you DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT to label them. Get to know them, and if they prove they’re one of those things, THEN you can label them. But DON’T label them because of their music style/clothing style/group they hang out with.

BIGGEST PET PEEVE COMING UP:

What bugs me more is the fact that people give themselves labels. What I would GIVE to have no one label me, yet here THEY are saying, “Oh yeah, I’m so totally Gothic/Emo/Preppy/Gangster/etc.”
NO.
YOU’RE NOT.
If you have to TELL people you’re that…then you’re a…oh me oh my…can it be you’re a… p… p… POSER?
Why yes you are. ^.^

I’m glad as hell you’ve found your place in society (maybe that’s why I have an issue with self-labeling, because I haven’t found my place in society) but don’t go bragging to the world what you are.

I find ‘Emos’ have the biggest problem with this…Even though none of them are a type of music…they’re people, not radios.
If you were a true ‘Emo’ then you wouldn’t go around bragging and telling the world “Oh, look at my scars!”

THAT RIGHT THERE pisses me off the most. Little tiny cuts on your wrists and you’re so hardcore…You don’t even know…

If you really are an ‘Emo’ then I’m terribly sorry for what you read…

And I’m getting off subject now because I’m ranting about Emos. So back to labeling:

I joke about my labels…I say, “Yeah because I’m such a little Emo kid.” but never would I look someone in the eye and tell them, “I’m Emo.”
Because I’m not…no matter what you say…BECAUSE I AM NOT A CAN OF SOUP, SO I DON’T NEED A LABEL. X3
